THE INCREDIBLE TESTIMONY OF
HAIR
People do not realize how much Yahweh’s creation reflects His government and His ways. One of the weaknesses and problems with man is that he is blind to these wonders. Even as Yahshua came to this earth and spoke everything in parables so that men would not understand and believe, so Yahweh’s creation is likewise a riddle that men do not understand. There is nothing created on this earth that does not reflect His governmental order and purposes.
When Yahshua said that “the very hairs of your head are all numbered,” He was even then speaking in a parable. He was not saying that because Yahweh can count the hairs of your head He can pay attention to your needs. No, hair is glory, and He was telling us to not worry, for all our works of glory are already numbered. He was stating the very message Paul echoed when he likewise wrote, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand [He numbered] so that we would walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Even the fact that this statement was recorded in Matthew (10:30) and Luke (12:7) and not in Mark, is a parable in itself. And, it is equally a parable that there are no parables in John.
The problem with man is that he cannot receive Yahshua’s truth, even kingdom men. When Yahshua said, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head,” likewise He was not saying that He had no place to sleep. He was saying that no man could receive His truth, His head.
Even the foxes and birds of the air spoken of were the false teachings that find residence in the church, confirmed in His like parable specifically addressing the corruption of the kingdom of heaven: “the birds of the air come and nest in its branches” (Matthew 13:31–32). These are the same birds He spoke of when addressing the hairs of your head. The “two sparrows” that are sold for a cent, yet do not fall to the ground apart from the Father, are likewise the period of these false teachings.
So why should we be so surprised that everything He designs and all He does are parables of His ways and His works? Thus in like manner, everything about our body is governmental and prophetic.
For example, why did Yahweh design the human body so that only the hair on the head will grow to great lengths? Can you answer that riddle? Knowing the incredible prophetic nature of hair, which is glory, you can be most certain that this physiological distinction declares vivid truth as well. If He had wanted to, Yahweh could have made the hair on our body to continually grow, just like on our head. Or conversely, He could have made it that the hair on our head was like the rest of our hair and grow out to a certain length and stop. So, what divine testimony did He design into this unique and purposeful difference?
When we read 1 Corinthians 11:2–16, the entire issue there is headship. In fact, a great portion of the Scriptures, especially in the New Testament, is given to this matter of proper headship. So again, what part of the body receives the greater glory that ever-grows? It is the head. By Yahweh placing ever-growing hair on the head only, He was affording a living parable that the head is to receive the glory.
Therefore, the head of the woman is her husband. So, who is to receive the glory—the woman or her husband? Attested to by Yahweh’s design regarding hair, the woman is to always seek to give the glory to her head, her husband.
The head of the man is Yahshua. So, who is to receive the glory—the man or Yahshua? Attested to by Yahweh’s design regarding hair, the man is to always give the glory to his Head, Yahshua.
And this was certainly true regarding Yahshua, for He always gave the glory to His Head, the Father.
Again, creation consistently speaks; and this matter of what we do with hair speaks volumes! This importance, or significance, is quite obvious. As touched on in the Introduction, hair is a major issue throughout the Bible—whether it be the Nazirite vow (Numbers 6), cleansing a leper (Leviticus 14:8–9), Esau (Genesis 25:25, 27:11), Samson (Judges 16:13–22), Samuel (1 Samuel 1:11), Aaron (Psalm 133:2), Amasa (2 Samuel 20:9), Absalom (2 Samuel 14:25–26), Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 19:24), Ezekiel (Ezekiel 5:1–5), Elijah (2 Kings 1:8), John the Baptist (Matthew 3:4), the test of leprosy (Leviticus 13), a woman taken captive and wanted as a wife (Deuteronomy 21:10–14), the sign of wisdom and maturity (Proverbs 20:29), Joseph (Genesis 41:14), Paul (Acts 21:23–26), Yahshua (Isaiah 50:6), His teachings (Matthew 10:30), the two women who anointed Yahshua’s feet (Luke 7:38, John 12:3), the government of headship (1 Corinthians 11:2–16), the glorified Savior (Revelation 1:14), or many, many others. By Yahweh’s prophetic design and governmental order, hair is a major effectual subject in the Scriptures.
Therefore, when we denude ourselves by men shaving their faces or heads, or women shaving under their arms or their legs or wearing their hair short like a man’s, we too are prophesying, and that to our shame and our judgment! When women refuse to cover their glory, they too prophesy, and that as well to their shame. If Yahweh relates the accounting of the glory of our works by numbering our hairs, what are we saying when we alter them in a way that is contrary to His design or government? Men did not know the meaning of Yahshua’s parables when He spoke them, nor have they known them to this day, including the parable of what they speak by altering Yahweh’s design regarding hair and coverings for their bodies and for their heads. Like blind Bartimaeus, men are equally blind. But at least Bartimaeus knew his blindness, and all the more cried out for his eyes to be opened. But today, the blind lead the blind.
